Importance of Parent Support
One thing that most successful youth sports teams have in common: GREAT PARENT SUPPORT. Being a supportive parent means supporting your child, the school, and the coach. Please set a good example and refrain from:
Coaching from the sidelines: please respect any coaches in the wrestler’s corner by not yelling different instructions to your child.
Negativity and vulgar language: this has no place on our team and in the sport. Please keep your cheering and excitement with positivity always. Negativity could cost your child or team points at tournaments or duals.
Using social media or public platforms to discuss any disagreements or disputes. Any problems can be taken to leaders of the Booster Organization or the coaches directly.
Unless specified by the coaches, no parent is permitted in the practice room or locker rooms.
Anything unbecoming that could show poorly on behalf of Redondo Union High School. Running a program the size of the RUHS Wrestling team is a challenge and it truly takes a village to coordinate all the moving parts. The Parent Boosters are a big part of supporting the coaches and the team both financially and with their time. It takes a team of dedicated coaches, hardworking, committed wrestlers, and supportive parents to be successful. Below is a brief summary of some of the key volunteer opportunities followed by some more specific descriptions and photos and samples of communication from the main roles that support the Booster Organization.
Fundraising team (4)- Running a wrestling program costs money and unfortunately for us, it does not grow on trees. The fundraising team will manage and lead the fundraising effort throughout the season and offseason. Some fundraising events in the plans include Vegas Night and Red and White Night. Other events could include but not limited to Car Wash, Comedy Club Night, etc… All parents are encouraged to participate in any and all fundraising events.
Transportation Coordinator (1)- Last season, our team went over budget because of rising bus costs. With the intention to attend many more competitions this season, we need your help. Most tournaments we will attend are less than a 45-minute drive. We need your help carpooling kids to tournaments. These coordinators will communicate with parents on a weekly basis to see who is available to give rides each weekend. One parent for boys and one for girls’ team. This will save us a ton of money!!!
Statistics Manager (2-3)- Every tournament for F/S, Varsity, and Girls, I will need help keeping track and managing stats. We need these for future tournament seedings and head to head matchups for post season events. At the end of the season, we will have awards for various stats.
Social Media Manager (1)- Manage social media accounts via IG and other necessary platforms. Works with content manager, videographer, and graphic manager to release posts after any dual meet or tournament.
Content Manager (1)- Helps to write articles post/pre every dual meet, tournament, or fundraiser. Sends to school paper/tv weekly.
Videographer/Photographer (1/2)- Helps take photos/video from all competitions and fundraisers. Compiles all other photos from other parents.
Graphics/Artwork Manager (1)- Helps create and distribute artwork and graphics for all logo designs, uniform design, flyers or other multimedia. Works with Social Media Manager.
